Scenic trail along the Sackville River, athletic fields and military rifle range.
This trail follows the Sackville river, starting in Bedford and ending in Lower Sackville. Well-groomed, the trail is suitable for rugged strollers and wheelchairs. Crossing under the 102 Highway brings you to a moderate incline that continues up around the rifle range to the bridge crossing the Sackville River. A significant portion of the trail runs along the Bedford Rifle Range–a 253-hectare footprint that is still in use today. The Sackville River Association has been erecting interpretations signs and restocking the river with fish. http://sackvillerivers.ns.ca/ During the warm months, expect to see plenty of activity at the baseball & football fields, which are located on a natural flood plain along the Sackville River. Runners are also part of the activity as the nearby Running Room regularly unleashes various clinics on the trail . T he trail crosses the commercial section of Bedford, so t here is lots of parking. For transit users, buses 80, 82, 86 & 89 can drop you off at multiple locations starting at Hatchery Lane near Fish Hatchery Park.
