In this video, we’ll take a look at newest feature found in the latest version of Garmin Basecamp: Garmin Adventures.
Basically this is a way to package up your GPS track file and add photos, videos and geocaches. This video goes over the process of how to create a new garmin adventure.
You can have many tracks in an adventure, but only 1 is selected as the main track to display the summary information. If you are creating an adventure about a network of trails, pick out the main trail and add additional information in the info section of the track file.
There are a number of ways to start an adventure, but right-click a track in your collection usually does the trick.
From the initial screen, you are able to add geocoded photos to the adventure. Photos that are not tagged with GPS coordinates, are placed in the middle of the map where you can place them manually. Photos taken with a smartphone will most likely have GPS information, so those will be placed along the track file if you took photos along the way.
You can also add Youtube videos, copy & click the video URL and enter a title & description.
Once done adding items, you can finish creating your adventure by giving it a title, the description is taken from the main track file, cover photo, difficulty, activity and optional tags.
You can always go back and edit your adventure. Once you are done, you can now share your adventure by publishing it on the Garmin Adventure website. This will allow friends to view the summary info & photos without basecamp.
Those with basecamp can use the application and download the adventure locally. This will allow your friends to install the adventure package onto their GPS device.
Make sure you update your firmware to allow support for adventures.

From the website:
Garmin Adventures provides a free, interactive way for you to swap your stories with a community of fellow explorers, brag to your buddies about your travels, or let friends and family find your favorite spots.
You can make an adventure out of nearly anything, whether you’re climbing a mountain, hitting the highway, taming a single-track or exploring an amusement park. Just bring your GPS-enabled device with you the next time you head outdoors. You can use any device as long as it’s capable of collecting and exporting track logs.
With your journey complete and GPS data in hand, our free BaseCamp software walks you through the process of creating an interactive timeline. You can add geotagged photos, YouTube® videos, geocaches and notes to help guide others through the details of your experience.
You can email your adventure, share it on Facebook® and Twitter®, or post it in your favorite forums. When you publish, you’re also sharing your adventure with a community of fellow explorers who can see where you went and what you experienced along the way.
Your adventures live in the cloud, so you can experience them online, on your GPS device, on your phone or in BaseCamp. You can also find inspiration for your next journey by searching BaseCamp for other adventures.
