Last updated: July 26, 2026. Garmin Fit and the old ANT+ iOS adapter are legacy products. Check current Garmin app and device compatibility before buying accessories.
This post is preserved as Jim’s original field note on Garmin’s ANT+ adapter and Garmin Fit iOS app. At the time, the idea was simple: use an iPhone or iPod with compatible Garmin sensors instead of carrying a Forerunner, laptop and USB dongle for every workout upload.
What Still Matters
- The old adapter depended on compatible ANT+ sensors such as heart-rate, footpod and cadence sensors.
- It did not make every Garmin accessory compatible with an iPhone, and it did not replace a full Garmin watch or handheld GPS workflow.
- For current Garmin fitness syncing, start with Garmin Connect and verify which devices and phones are supported now.
