Garmin Forerunner 305 – Creating Pace Zones Target Workout

In this video, I’ll show you how to create a workout and specify a pace range or pace zone. So let’s say you are at a race and you wanted to stay within a certain pace range so that you don’t over do it and yet stay within your goal time.

First we need to setup our pace zone, after that we need to create an advance workout.

Start from the main menu and go to Settings | Running | Pace Zones

You will see a lot of pace zones, select the one that is faster than your goal pace. In this example, I used speed zone 3. What I want to do is modify this zone so that it I have the range of 6:15/km to 5:45/km pace. Once that is set, you can now go and create a new Advanced workout and create your steps.

Here we’ll create a simple interval workout (10 & 1’s) but for the 10 min running step, we’ll add a target and select the pace zone. Once done, you’ll be able to use this workout and you will get alerts when you fall outside of that zone.

It’s a great way to make sure you stay on pace and not over reach during race day. It’s a bit easier to do this via garmin connect.
