Iridium GO! – How to Update Firmware

Updating the firmware on your Iridium GO! is fairly easy and similar to how you update the firmware on your home wireless router.

First thing is to make sure that the Iridium GO! is fully charged and from the email update sent by Iridium click on the link or go to:

https://www.iridium.com/support/firmwaresoftwareupdates.aspx

Download and extract the zip file, you see the .frm file.

Next, change your wifi connection on your computer to connect to the Iridium GO! – Under the wifi preferences, connect to the HOTSPOT.

Once you are connected, open a new browser window and enter the following URL: http://198.162.0.1 this will access the Iridium GO! administration panel.

Use the default user/password (guest/guest) and go into the system tab.

From here you will be able to choose the firmware file we’ve just downloaded and to apply the firmware update.

This will take at least 15 minutes to complete. Once it is done, it will restart the device and log you out of the admin panel. At this point, you can verify the firmware version on the device by pressing on any button, then find the INFORMATION menu item, scroll to see the f/w line item.
