KEEN Wichita Shoe Review

We will take a look at KEEN Footwear Wichita shoes for men after 6 months of usage and see how they held up.

For me, it’s a perfect light hiking, casual everyday or weekend shoe for three seasons. The styling is such that you can wear it at the office, then head out on the trail or bike without missing a step. It’s a little heavier than a running shoe but not bad as a hiking shoe. The sizing is true to size, meaning that if you already have a KEEN product other than a sandal, then you would pick the same size. But check on their website for the fit guide.

The tread pattern at first didn’t appear to be good, but for the type of terrain I run into out here in Atlantic Canada, it did quite a good job, mostly due to the soft rubber used for the sole. The downside is that it has worn down a little faster than I thought after the distance I’ve put into them, which was about 700kms. I’m not sure if I will be able to make them last for another full season.

It’s not waterproof, but the mesh allows for good drainage. I found this to be a light to medium arch support & support, so you might need an aftermarket inner footbed like SOLE or SUPERFEET.

In terms of construction, it’s holding up fairly well, just on my right shoe, the heel fabric is wearing down to the outer shell. I tend to lace these shows a bit loose, but it’s surprising how fast it’s wearing down. Overall it’s one of my favorite hiking shoes, but a shame that it’s wearing down a little faster than anticipated. But for the price, this might be something to look at.
