Mont Saint Bruno – Hiking in Montreal

Mont Saint Bruno – A very popular destination for walkers, runners during the warm months and even more popular during the winter with its cross-country skiing trail and downhill ski; this provincial park at the of the Montreal metropolis is worth the visit.

Essentially established in the mid 1700’s, this became a thriving estate where the rivers and lakes found at the mountain, produced electricity for anything from grain to wood.

By the 1850’s, the well to-do anglophones would start buying up parcels for a quaint lifestyle. Some of these private lots are still in the park.

On this late fall day, I decided to stretch my legs after driving 6 hours from New Brunswick and stop in at the park. Entry fee was 7.50$ and I had about 90 minutes to kill. So I opted for a combination of trails which would provide almost 8km of hiking: “Les Lacs” and “Le seigneural”

Along the way you can look at the view from the largest lake, the private residences, the historic Mill and the grotto.
