Spyderco Tenacious

Just got the Spyderco Tenacious Black knife, here are my initial impressions.

One of the great things about this knife is the ability to customize the clip if you are left or right handed.

The G-10 handle is smoother than you expect.

The trademark holes for deployment at first I wasn’t crazy about, but I can see now how people like. Very easy to deploy. I’ve people attach a nylon tie so that it will deploy when pulling out of your pant pocket.

My first night with the knife, I removed the pin that holds the blade together, surprised how little parts that make up the knife. However the blade pin also had a few copper discs and I didn’t assemble them back the same way. As a result, the blade is a bit off-center and not as smooth deploying.

A final comment is the cutting surface, having the entire length of the blade sharp is great, but also dangerous if you don’t pay attention folding the blade back after you release the liner lock.

You can find this knife in black or regular sating finish and either straight or combination edge.

Being tenacious means one holds fast. One is persistent and cohesive. It means being tough and tireless until achieving your goal: all knife-worthy definitions for a worthy knife. The mid-sized Tenacious has a black G-10 laminate handle, milled with prolonged fatigue-free cutting in mind. Tucked inside are skeletonized steel liners increasing the handle’s rigidity and strength without adding non-functioning weight or bulky thickness.

The 8Cr13Mov stainless blade is leaf-shaped and ground flat from spine to cutting edge for cutting performance. The blade’s shape coupled with an oversized Spyderco Round Hole and textured spine jimping allow you to open the blade and position your thumb on the spine in slip-proof confidence ready for work. A Walker Linerlock (with jimped liner) and a 4-way pocket clip lets you set your carry and draw preference: Tip-up/tip-down left-hand/right-hand. Screw together construction.

For those in Canada, I purchased the knife via this supplier on eBay. I’ve bought the last few blades from him and has been excellent service so far.
