Yurt Camping Whycocomaugh

We spent two nights in the Yurt provided by Nova Scotia Parks at Whycocomaugh Provincial Park in Cape Breton.

These are setup differently than the Yurts setup at Kejimkujik or at Fundy National Park.

The big difference is that each yurt at the park (there are 3 of them) are at the top of Salt Mountain and overlooks a section of the Bras d’Or lakes. The yurt sits on top of a wood platform which in turn is a huge deck.

Sleeps 6 and a BBQ is provided (with propane). They even thought of putting solar lights, something that we didn’t think of when we were at Kejimkujik. For 55$, this is a very good option for those who don’t want to haul gear or have kids or are in a group. My only complaint is that the insulation layer makes a bit of noise when the wind starts up.

Next stop will be the Yurt in Fundy National Park!
